When you want to do the most Finnish thing possible - you have to visit a sauna! Join us and get an authentic sauna experience! Our tours are exclusive since our group size never exceeds 8 persons. During this guided tour, we will take you to a smoke sauna, which is held in the highest esteem by most Finns. It is a mixed sauna so a bathing suit is required. As the smoke sauna is heated to around 80-100 degrees Celsius, water is thrown on the rocks (which we have a word for here in Finland: Löyly). This sends a wave of heat throughout the sauna, which in turn helps you to relax, relieve stress, release sweat to flush toxins, help muscle stiffness, and clear your skin. The sauna is located by the lake so after we have heated up enough there is a change for a refreshing swim!Highlights:• Experience an authentic Finnish smoke sauna• Swim in a freshwater lake• Ultimate relaxing experience• Do the most Finnish thing possible
Once the sauna is ready it's your time to unwind. Listen to the fire crackling in the wood stove as the heat slowly rises from the stones. You will be welcomed with a cup of beneficial Chaga tea, a local specialty from the primeval forests of Finnish Lapland, after which you will be initiated into our meditative Tummo breathing technique in our yoga room. After this you prepare for the first round in the traditional Finnish sauna, under the guidance of an instructor. In the Finnish sauna you put the new breathing technique into practice while enjoying the warmth and steam of water from Lake Kitka. After the sauna you go outside to cool off in the winter in the snow or under the cold shower, in the summer by swimming in Lake Kitka. After the second visit to the Finnish sauna, take a refreshing dip in the ice water of Lake Kitka to cool off - also during the winter season. The cold releases endorphins and other hormones and you will intensively experience the beneficial effect on body and mind. The learned Tummo breathing technique and the serenity of Lake Kitka also contribute to this.
